COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST 1840-JM

McLaughlin Research Corporation’s San Diego location is actively seeking COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST BLS to assist personnel with computer hardware and software issues, including tracking issues, and following up with personnel on status.

 

Shall work closely with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) on prioritizations and tasking. Tasking will also include Information Assurance support and working closely with the ISSO on task support needs.  Provide support in accordance with applicable Command and local policies and processes.

 

Tasks may include:

 

  • Inspecting equipment and prepare order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
  • Preparing evaluations of software or hardware and recommending improvements or upgrades.
  • Answering user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Overseeing the daily performance of computer systems.
  • Entering commands and observation system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
  • Installing and performing minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Setting up equipment for employee use, installing/routing cables, installing operating systems on computer hardware, or installing appropriate software. Contactor shall ensure equipment and software are properly installed.
  • Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
  • Monitoring consumable requirements and preparing documentation to order replacements.
  • Processing hazardous items for disposal in accordance with local and federal regulations.
  • Utilizing Government provided information, conducting research, providing recommendations and other pertinent information to Government representative, and assisting in implementing hardware and software items for existing and/or new projects.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • DOD Secret Clearance
  • COMP TIA Security +

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with NMCI

Job Description

Seeking candidates to support base office moves as needed. Typical office moves involve disassembly and reassembly of office furniture including desks, tables, cabinets, chairs, and associated office and laboratory fixtures.

Work under this task will primarily be performed at NSWC Corona, CA. Work may also be performed at NWS Fallbrook, CA and NSWC Seal Beach, CA.

This is an on-call position and may involve weekend work to accomplish tasks.  Hours may not go over 1000 per year.

Job Description

The Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently.  Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

  1. Constructing components, sub-units, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;
  2. Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub-units of equipment.
  3. Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;
  4. Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
  5. Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Provide technical consultation to challenging Fleet Support scenarios on the Common Data Link Management System (CDLMS), JTIDS and MOS Link-16 Terminals, and newer system technologies scheduled for delivery.  Assist in the design improvements for CDLMS, NGC2P, and newly developed system technologies, along with the integration and testing of these systems before delivery to U.S. and FMS host nations.  Inspect fabricated cable assemblies and integrate them into the system IAW MILSPEC Standards.  This position may require travel to multiple locations throughout the world for SOVT and CASREP assistance, while at the same time providing distant support trouble-shooting services to the Fleet.

MRC provides professional engineering services spanning the entire life cycle of systems, equipment, and facilities. Our mechanical, electrical, chemical, and civil engineering services range from conceptual studies though operational support to disposal and demilitarization, and in particular include design and development of modifications to in-service systems/equipment for incorporation of product improvement changes, reliability improvement changes, and functional capability upgrades.

We are currently seeking a General Clerk III for our location in Corona, CA.

  • Provide support to NSWC Corona Security and Badge office.
  • Program routine visitor badges, program classified visitor badges for access into level II spaces, and monitor alarm activity.
  • Troubleshoot access issues for Common Access Cards and NAVSEA local Badges.
  • Run reports through Alarm Monitoring software to see which employees and visitors have access to classified/level II spaces.
  • Maintain security database with employee’s personal information.
  • Ensure inventory of all NAVSEA visitor badges using an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Gather and store information using Excel for camera and audible recording devices.
  • Input/verify visitor’s security clearances using the Microsoft Access security database
