Job Description

Full-time position exists at a DoD installation in Rhode Island. Successful candidate will provide technical assistance for GIS data development and automation, database maintenance, cartographic production, metadata development, and vector/raster analysis.  Candidate will support a variety of tasks associated with the technical analysis  and research of DoD systems and platforms and their impact on the environment for compliance with Federal, state, and local environmental regulations.  The position requires close interaction with a staff of engineers, biologists and environmental planners, as such a background in geospatial and location based technologies, environmental science, oceanography, or marine biology is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • Individual must have 3-5 years (minimum) geospatial data analysis and processing experience and 1-2 years (minimum) ArcGIS Enterprise experience.
  • Individual must have an eagerness to learn new skills and be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree; in any of the following preferred fields, Biology, Natural Resource Conservation, Environmental Management, Oceanography, Geography, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Geographic Sciences.  Masters preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in:  ESRI ArcGIS 10.x Suite including Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro and Model Builder, Windows 2010, Microsoft Office Suite, Python, Mathworks Matlab, R, FGDC and ISO Metadata standards.

Background in any/all of the following is preferred:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
