Job Description

Supports the Code 85 media center by providing superior customer service to all users of the LCSF Library. Maintains integrity of the LCSF library inventory by properly cataloguing and tracking both the physical items and electronic records according to the appropriate procedures.  Duties/responsibilities:  Assists users with media requests, database searches, and general inquiries.  Processes checkout, check-in, catalog requests, destruction, and transmittal transactions.   Maintains SOPs for the LCSF library in accordance with policy changes.  Completes miscellaneous projects (e.g. annual inventory, report generation, etc.) as assigned.  Performs backup reception duties, including answering and transferring calls, paging, scheduling for the conference room, and completing badge check and sign-in procedures for all visitors to the LCSF.  Follows the appropriate opening and closing procedures for the LCSF library when applicable.

Background in any/all of the following is preferred:

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous data entry experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Database driven applications.
  • Ability to assess existing processes or work flows and modernize as needed.
  • Ability to take on new tasks outside the normal scope.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Prior experience supporting NUWC Newport of similar Warfare Center.
  • Experience using BITS inventory system.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
